Mendelssohn and Mussorgsky

Inspired by a posthumous exhibit of watercolors and drawings by the composer’s dear friend, Victor Hartmann, Mussorgsky’s heartfelt and reverent Pictures at an Exhibition is a series of musical depictions of the artist’s canvasses and creativity, imbued with Russian sense and sensibilities. Also featured on the program is Czech violinist Pavel Sporcl in a performance of Mendelssohn’s famed violin concerto.
