Prapat Prateepphleepon

Bass Trombonist from Civic Orchestra of Chicago 2015-2017, Prapat has received Master Degree of Music from Chicago College of Performing Arts, Roosevelt University in 2015. During joining Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Prapat has gained so many experiences including performing with Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Elgin Symphony Orchestra. He is a student of Mr. Jay Friedman, Mr. Reed Capshaw and Mr. Charlie Vernon (Chicago Symphony Orchestra).

Admitted as a third year student in 2011 with full scholarship to Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music at the National University of Singapore, Prapat is a bass trombone student under Mr. Shannon Pittaway.

Prapat started his musical studies with Electone when he was eight years old. At the age of fourteen, he began playing tenor trombone and joined the Assumption College concert and marching band. He continued his musical studies in the pre-college program at Mahidol University College of Music under Dr. Sean Scott Reed, Mr. Sukanit Sasomsin and Dr. Joseph Bowman. When he was eighteen years old, he switched to bass trombone and studied under Mr. Theerapol Submool at Kasetsart University.

Prapat has attended numerous music camps, competitions, and masterclasses both in his home country, Thailand, and internationally. In 2015, He attended the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan where he had a chance to work with a number of great musicians such as Denson Paul Pollard, Jesper Sorensen and Sarah Willis. In 2016, he was a participant in Alessi Trombone Seminar at Fossano, Italy. He also attended Trombone masterclasses conducted by Michael Mulcahy, Randy Hawes, Gene Pokorny, Douglas Wright, Tim Higgins, Peter Ellefson, Kevin Thomson, Ben Green, Soraphot Worasaeng, the Australian Brass Quintet, and Boston Brass.

In 2008 and 2010, he won first prize at the ASEAN Symphonic Band Competition with Kasetsart University Wind Symphonic Band and Wat Suthiwararam School Symphonic Band.

Prapat has taught students in  Thailand and overseas. He is a visiting faculty at Chulalongkorn University and Kasetsart University.
